The Altar Sunday School :
Primary objective : Showing our kiddos the love of Jesus and teaching them some basic Bible literacy using The Biggest Story curriculum. Parents are always going to be the ones teaching their kids the most about God, we are here to support those efforts.
Teachers, please look ahead to read through lesson plan and communicate with assistant about games and craft.
Lesson, video, memory verse, craft and games and more are all located in the curriculum.
We are doing our best to make sure the supplies for crafts are constant. If you ever notice a need please let us know.
As you arrive to church please go prep the classroom, turn on the heat, set up the tv for the video, bluetooth some chill music (bluetooth now available), and get things in order for your craft and game.
Sunday School teaching layout :
As you get to the classroom make sure you have everyone signed in. There is a sign up sheet.
Go right to the classroom and close the door, there are a lot of big games and things that are best left until the end of Sunday School so kiddos can focus up.
Open with introductions if there are new peeps, prayer, and maybe some questions about how everyone's weeks are going or what’s new.
Feel free to move everyone to the carpet and watch the video, encourage kids to pay attention. Don’t be afraid to correct if there is distracting behaviour.
Opening up for questions about the story. Consider watching the video a second time if the kids seem particularly locked in.
Craft time!! Everyone has a different speed, if the older kids are fast encourage them to help the little-er kids.
After craft be sure to further discuss the day's story and help embed some of the details about the overall theme.
Do the memory verse together. Ev has a really great way of making it fun - feel free to use white board
Play any games that relate, the curriculum is FULL of them and the kiddos love this part. Please contain play to the Sunday School room, if a larger area is needed please let Adrianne know before service and the basement can be set up for you with lots of running around space.
End with snack time and some discussion.
If there is time left you can allow free play in the room or in the larger room with the big games but kids must be watched and told they are not to go in other doors or leave the area of play.
Feel free to display any of their beautiful art on the pin board.
Parents must come and collect their kiddos at the end of service. Kids are released to parents or guardians only.

Discipline Policy :
To keep all children safe we use the following discipline procedure to address undesirable behaviors such as being disruptive, disrespect, not listening to instruction :
We will:
1. Ask the child to comply, if they don't we will ask why not.
2. Take them aside and address the wrong behavior.
3. Tell the child the correct way to behave, and ask if there are any exterior issues at play (challenging home life, bad day, emotions).
4. Do our best to help him/her get involved in the current activity and keep them close to support and encourage them.
5. If the child persists in the behavior warning will be given that Mom and Dad will be called to the classroom.
6. If behaviour still persists Mom or Dad WILL be called to the classroom. Assistant to go collect Mom or Dad as the teacher holds down the front.
7. We will explain the problem and ask you to take the child out of the classroom until he/she can return to the group with the proper behaviour.
Ultimately every child is unique and we will do our best to come around each child in correction and love while ensuring the safety of all.
